No job, drugs, crime – this is day-to-day life for many young people who live in problem neighbourhoods. An initiative called 180° Wende (180 Degree Turn) in Cologne wants to help them improve their lives. The concept: one city, ten coaches, and 100 multipliers. Young trainers coach young Cologne residents in areas such as drug prevention, civil courage, and anti-aggression. The young people put the knowledge they have gained into practice at home, on the streets, and in school, making them credible contacts and role models in their districts.
