An artist takes up residence in a village for six months and makes art together with residents. This is the principle of the German Cultural Landscape Foundation. Every second year, municipalities with less than 3,000 inhabitants can apply to take part. In 2013, three villages in the German states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, and Hesse were chosen. By working together and engaging with their hometown, the participants get new perspectives on their living environment and the village community and are motivated to shape their life in the country themselves.
