Auditive architecture
The sound of the city of tomorrow
A research project aims to improve the sonic environment in cities
How full of sound can a city be? What sounds do its inhabitants want to hear? Employees specializing in “auditive architecture” at the University of Arts Berlin are investigating such questions. The objective is to design cities that are not only visually attractive but also have an auditory appeal in order to enhance the living quality. A poignant example is the integration of electric cars, which will alter future urban sound environments considerably.
