(B)energy – mobile biogas technology
Biogas in the backpack
A social enterprise is selling biogas technology via franchisees in Africa and making biogas marketable
No firewood, no hot meals - this holds true for many people in Ethiopia. But wood is expensive and heavy to carry, and cooking over an open fire is a common cause of death. The business idea of (B)energy offers an unusual alternative: in Addis Abeba the first franchisee of B(energy) manufactures biogas technology simpily, quickly, and economically. Its customers can produce biogras from cow dung, kitchen waste, and waste. The "gas to go" is sold in pillow-like "(B)packs, biogas backpacks that can be transported comfortably and refilled. This makes people independent, generates income, and protects the environment to boot.
