Bettervest has an ambitious aim: it wants Germany’s citizens to be the biggest investor in energy efficiency and simultaneously the biggest beneficiary. The principle is simple: via a crowd-funding Internet platform many citizens can invest small amounts together. The money is used to finance energy-efficiency projects of cities, municipalities, companies or associations – for example, a switch to LED lighting. In return, the investors get a share of the savings made from the conversion. The project greatly benefits the climate, the economy, and the citizens.
