How can rural regions remain mobile in the future? For the Electromobility Centre Birkenfeld in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the answer is obvious – by promoting green mobility projects in the area. The centre, called EmobZ for short, relies on three pillars: informing the rural population, research and development, and advising municipalities and regional companies. For instance, car dealers and school classes learn how to turn conventional vehicles into electric cars. All participants are integrated at an early stage in order to encourage acceptance of green mobility.
