Boxmate – more security for IT systems
High-tech cage bridges security gaps
A software ensures greater security by controlling apps' and programmes' access to data
With all of the apps spread out on today's smartphones, it's easy to lose track of what's what. A new software developed by two researchers holding chairs at Saarland University along with an IT company has a solution. In an automated testing procedure, it first records the data a given app has access to. Later this information forms the basis for security checks. If a program tries to use different data than it normally does, the software sounds the alarm. This ensures high security and could also be used by servers or in Industry 4.0.
