A tunnel and a bridge connect Hamburg-Mitte with the industry and harbour district Wilhelmsburg. Here the design project Bridge&Tunnel is tapping the undiscovered potential of women of all nationalities who have so far had no chance of finding a job. The labels brings together professional designers and undiscovered craftswomen from the district who conjure high-quality travel bags, rucksacks, and interior design from discarded textiles. The idea gives the seamstresses a livelihood and strongly enhances their self-esteem. Bridge&Tunnel therefore not only stands for handcrafted design, but also for new future opportunities - tailor-made in their own neighbourhoods.
