Arias? Too boring for children! Not at all, as the Opernwerkstatt am Rhein proves. Together with the RheinEnergieStiftung Kultur, the organization launched a new cultural offer for rural communities around Hürth in 2010: children’s opera. The project brings high culture to elementary school students who live far away from the next opera house. In workshops, the children learn about arias and acting. The school auditorium or gymnasium serves as the stage. Professional singers and musicians show the young spectators that opera is better than it’s reputation. Much better.
