Containerwerk
Sea freight container as city apartment
An innovative insulation process transforms cargo containers into versatile and sustainable living and working modules
Living space is scarce and expensive, especially in big cities. Sea freight containers offer an inexpensive and resource-conserving alternative. The start-up Containerwerk buys the used cargo containers, insulates them to eliminate thermal bridges using a patented method, and upcycles them into energy-efficient and versatile residential and construction modules. Whether used as an apartment, office, hotel or student residence – the containers can be quickly and flexibly combined and assembled thanks to their low weight. Containerwerk makes affordable and sustainable housing possible in the city – and contributes to social cohesion.
