The countdown has begun: by mid November 2014 around 6,000 young people from various chapters of the Schleswig-Holstein Rural Youth Association hope to have collected enough money to plant 10,000 square metres of forest in the Dithmarschen district. With their campaign, they are supporting the Klimawald, or “climate forest”, foundation. The idea: citizens become “forest owners” in their region so that trees can be planted to promote climate protection. Through the campaign, the association is additionally sensitizing young rural residents to the value of the nature in their region.
