„Death at the Wall“ – history lessons via app
Inner German crime scene
A smartphone app playfully provides knowledge about the division of Berlin
How did the German border guard Reinhold Huhn die at the Berlin Wall in 1963? A smartphone app enables visitors to the German capital to experience the division of Germany at the actual locations and explore the fate of the guard in detail. The interactive historical novel “Death at the Berlin Wall” works with “augmented reality” technology, which links the smartphone user’s surroundings with historical images and information. With their app, the two initiators have created a new way of teaching history.
