The entrpreneurial idea of Pangea Electronics is simple but ingenious: based on a modular principle, the social start-up wants to build notebooks whose individual parts can be combined and interchanged. When the display is defective, it can be replaced and the person does not have to buy a new computer. That protects the environment and is easier on the wallet. Moreover, the open source manner of construction is bound to inspire innovations enabling tinkerers can transform soft- and hardware and share or sell their ideas online. The computer is to be completed in West African Guinea, where the start-up seeks to promote employment and development.
