Efficient design for photovoltaics
Solar cells in colour, please
Photovoltaic units become aesthetic design elements of tomorrow's cityscape
Until now, building planners were restricted to using black or bluish-grey elements when installing photovoltaic units. The Frauenhofer Institute’s Efficient Design research project can change this situation in the future. For the first time, the classic appearance of solar cells is being challenged. More colours, shapes, logos, and insignias can be used in designs – perfect for adapting photovoltaic modules to urban surroundings or even using them as a design element for facades and new buildings.
