Electric citizens' cars in Oberreichenbach
Chauffered to a neighbouring village for three Euros
Electric cars with volunteer drivers supplements the public transport offer of a rural community
With electric citizens’ cars introduced in 2012, the town of Oberreichenbach in the Black Forest enables citizens to go to the doctor in the next village or to the supermarket. A resident has an important appointment the next day and no busses are running? By simply making a phone call, villagers can book a chauffeur service and be driven to their destination by one of 20 volunteer helpers. The citizens’ cars supplement the public transport offer from 8 am to 8 pm in the rural region, thus improving the local mobility offer. Drives cost between one and three Euros. The electric cars are recharged at a citizens’ solar facility at the Town Hall.
