“Home is where you feel comfortable,” says Ali Sene, who emigrated to Germany from Senegal. “Today I feel that way in Holzkirchen”. Since 2012, the Holzkirchen Citizens’ Foundation has been committed to ensuring that he and around 1,500 other residents from 78 nations feel comfortable in the Bavarian district of Miesbach. Its members initiated a scientific study to find out which improvements their fellow citizens from abroad want. And at the annual Festival of Cultures, Holzkirchen residents are invited to become acquainted with dance, music, and food from other countries.
