There is a dearth of doctors in rural areas. Universitätsmedizin Rostock Versorgungsstrukturen GmbH is testing the possibilities offered by telemedicine to care for heart patients better and more efficiently. Together with its project partners Philips, AOK, and TK, it supervises patients individually over the phone. In the future, it will send their health data via an app to a digital platform on which it can be viewed by authorized hospitals, family doctors, health-care supply stores, and pharmacies. Unnecessary hospital stays and complications are to be avoided. If the patient’s condition deteriorates, medical experts can help them quickly and uncomplicatedly.
