“Home Work”

Discovering work perspectives in the region

Pupils research local business to create job opportunities for themselves

Finish school and leave town? This is precisely what the Salvador Allende primary and secondary school and Protestant St. John’s high school in the town of Wriezen in the German state of Brandenburg are trying to avoid with the “Home Work” project. In the “business – work – technology” field of study pupils become acquainted with different job profiles and everyday work in the economically underdeveloped Oderbruch region in eastern Germany. They ask families and acquaintances questions, visit local doctors, car mechanics, farmers, artists, and firemen. This enables them to learn more about the regional economy and find local work perspectives for themselves.
