ichó interactive therapy ball
Have a ball…as your therapist
A high-tech ball uses a variety of sensory stimuli to activate dementia patients, enhancing their cognition.
At first glance, it looks like an ordinary exercise ball. But there is a lot of technology hidden inside this handball-sized, soft plastic object. It makes the orb glow, vibrate and play music as soon as it is touched or stroked. Ichó is designed to support the treatment of dementia patients and make it easier for helpers to communicate with patients. The more senses that are addressed, the more the brain is challenged: seeing, hearing and feeling exercises the cognitive abilities. The start-up ichó systems developed the ball in partnership with physical therapists, electrical engineers, cognitive scientists and designers.
