Intelligent data glasses for social inclusion
More than meets the eye
Intelligent glasses provide support for the elderly and people with disabilities
Buying tickets, operating a coffee machine, assembling a bird feeder – even everyday activities can be a challenge for the elderly and people with disabilities. Researchers at Bielefeld University have now developed intelligent data glasses to assist them. Thanks to augmented reality technology, object and action recognition, sensor technology, eye movement measurement and cognitive diagnostics, these special spectacles recognise precisely at which point their wearer needs support, and brings up the corresponding information on a display. In this way, the glasses become a guide in everyday life, increasing the social participation of those in need of help.
