INTENSE mobile science theatre
Stargazing goes to school
A planetarium on wheels transports students to distant worlds and gives them a closer look at MINT professions
A black plastic igloo on the outside; state-of-the-art 360-degree projection technology on the inside. The INTENSE project, funded by Berlin’s business sector, is touring Berlin schools with a mobile planetarium dome to get teens excited about careers in science and technology. Using virtual reality, it provides compelling multimedia presentations on outer space, energy and the environment, interactively accompanied by a moderator. The presentations are complemented by workshops. Those who wish to can present their solution for a given assignment or create a flight through the Solar System. The Planetarium Berlin Foundation project shows how virtual reality can open up the world of science – and empower future specialists.
