Journeyman
Putting craftspeople on the road again
A start-up provides craftsmen with short-term jobs abroad and supports them in their preparations
International experience is easy to come by at university, thanks to countless student exchange programmes. Young craftspeople face a different situation – even though the journeyman years, spent travelling to foreign regions and getting to know new techniques of their craft, were once an integral part of their apprenticeship. Now, a start-up empowers them to take to the road again in the digital age. The online platform Journeyman arranges short-term jobs for craftspeople in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. It also helps with visa applications and travel arrangements. Journeyman promotes knowledge exchange and intercultural skills – and connects different worlds.
