Klexikon.de – Online encyclopedia for children
Wikipedia’s little sister
Volunteer authors are creating the first free internet encyclopaedia for children in easy-to-understand language
What is globalisation? Who was Michael Ende and what do you use a telescope for? Questions like these are answered by Klexikon.de. The online reference work for children regards itself as ‘Wikipedia’s little sister’ and even looks a bit like the free internet encyclopaedia, but the entries are shorter and formulated in such a way that primary school pupils can easily understand them. Thanks to the efforts of volunteer authors, the lexicon already contains more than 2,000 articles. It gives children access to free knowledge online, promotes education and equal opportunities – and thus enhances social cohesion.
