KONUX – smart rail infrastructure with sensor data analysis
Through the use of sensor and analysis solutions developed by the start-up KONUX, railway companies gain insight into the condition of the rail network in real time. As a result, downtimes can be recognized and remedied in advance.
Railway companies are always under pressure to optimize their infrastructure usage, to increase passenger and freight capacities, and at the same time to keep maintenance costs and punctuality under control. The Munich-based start-up KONUX has developed a solution that replaces currently used manual measuring methods with sensor technology on railway platforms and continuously transmits data about the state of the infrastructure to an analytical platform.
Algorithms analyse the sensor readings, identify anomalies, and calculate the remaining lifetime of the infrastructure. This information is visualised in real time on a user-friendly interface. The system reports critical events and gives recommendations for action for optimal planning of maintenance measures. Thus the full lifetime of the infrastructure can be exploited and outages avoided. This benefits travellers and freight customers as it improves the punctuality and reliability of rail transport.
