MaxCine – public centre for communication and exchange
On the trail of white storks & co.
With the help of digital, interactive technology, a research institute enables interested people to learn about its work
Scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology do not conduct research in an ivory tower. With the MaxCine visitors centre, the institute consciously seeks dialogue with the public. Interested people can gather information about the research work in an interactive media room and in the "Movebank," an online database that stores worldwide movement patterns of wild animals that have been equipped with GPS transmitters. And with the Animal Tracker app, everyone can follow their routes in real time. On top of that, those who want to discover, say white storks, can upload observations and photos via the app.
