Measuring system for optimising CFRP production
Industry 4.0 above the clouds
With a digital measuring and analysis system quality defects in plastics production can be avoided
Since they are much lighter and stiffer than steel, building parts made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) are often used in the aerospace industry. These components are not mass produced, but made by means of precise manual work in many steps. So the quality control costs a lot of time and money. To reduce the costs, the company AIRBUS APWORKS developed a new measuring and analysis system. It encompasses all production steps required to make CFRP work pieces and evaluates all of the data collected in real time. Thus, the system ensures quality and optimised processes across sites.
