Due to climate change, temperatures on Earth are rising and polar ice is melting. The Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research is investigating the consequences. On the Internet platform "meereisportal.de", the institute, in conjunction with the University of Bremen, has made scientifically sound background information, research results, and map material accessible to everyone since 2013. The scientists want to encourage exchange between research and the public, on the one hand, and to create the necessary basis for a social debate on the future-relevant topic of climate change on the other.
