An intermodal software solution for rural transport integrates private rides on public transport and enables citizens to use the local transport system more flexibly.

In rural regions, transport transport associations and companies cannot serve many routes regularly because there not enough demand for regular service. As a result, many people have to drive these routes themselves, often sitting in the car alone. The North Hessian Transport Association (NVV) is taking advantage of this and providing people in this rural region with a more flexible and affordable mobility solution. The project “Mobilfalt – mobility through diversity” links motorized individual transport with public transport offers. Thus people are mobile and make a contribution to the environment as cars that are being driven anyway are utilized better.
Here’s how it works: each user can offer private rides in exchange for a payment of 30 cents per kilometre with at least one passenger. The passenger pays one to two Euros on average per journey. A software integrates the private drives into the NVV’s local offer and these can be booked. The link between the local transport system and motorised individual transport guarantees that people can reach all of the districts of the “mobility municipalities” Sontra, Nentershausen, Herleshausen, and Witzenhausen from five in the morning to midnight.
