MobilTrain – training programme for older road users
Safe mobility to a ripe old age
With a tailor-made training program, older people in rural areas stay mobile for a longer time
Doctor's appointments, shopping, visits to relatives: In old age, in particular, mobility is a prerequisite for a self--determined life. But road traffic poses dangers to senior citizens, for example when their vision has deteriorated. The Würzburg Centre for Traffic Sciences together with a driving school and the town of Veithöchheim in Bavaria have developed a training programme geared to older people in rural areas. On a road simulator, the participants practice how to behave in dangerous situations and how to avoid such situations. In addition, they learn about new possibilities of remaining mobile, including carsharing and the like.
