MOKLI – help-finding app for young people in need
A place to sleep via an app
An interactive map shows street children where they can get help
It is estimated that around 29,000 children and young people in Germany are homeless and have to fend for themselves day in and day out. But many have a smartphone. The organisation KARUNA helps young people who don't have a roof over their heads with a free online offer: with a click users can find more than 3,000 contact points, whether for a place to sleep, mobile showers, a hot meal, or medical assistance. The interactive map exists both as an app and a browser version, in German, English, Arabic, and Polish. During the development children and youth could voice their wishes, from easy-to-understand icons to low data volume consumption.
