A lift that moves not only up and down, but also sideways? thyssenkrupp Elevator has developed the technology for the world’s first lift without a cable. The system allows several compartments to be operated horizontally and vertically in the same shaft. Passengers enjoy shorter wait times and can even be taken from room to room on a floor. This also and especially benefits people with reduced mobility: a step towards more inclusion. In future, the lift will also easily take passengers to the top of the highest skyscrapers – conventional cable technology already reaches its limits at a height of 400 to 500 metres.
