Making rural regions more liveable for young and old: the Saxon Multigenerational Facilities interest group set itself this goal. It launched a project called “Families Benefit from Generations” to help families in day-to-day life. In 16 multigenerational centres in Saxony, people can talk and exchange ideas at family cafés. In open-access meeting points in the neighbourhood, experts give advice on education, family budgets, and nutrition. Senior citizens sponsor families on a volunteer basis, taking the burden off young rural families.
