The names of justice
A new information portal makes official documents of the highest courts available on the internet for the first time
For many citizens, jurisdiction is a book with seven seals. Important judgements are delivered by the "Federal Supreme Court" or the "Federal Labour Court". But people remain in the dark about who is behind them. Until now. A research project is opening up a documentary resource that was previously only accessible to legal experts. To this end, thousands of pages were digitised for the first time - the distribution of tasks and senator composition of German federal courts since 1950. Now scientists and other interested people can see at any time which judge at which court decided which case. For more transparency in the legal jungle.
