Sitting in a lecture hall, watching presentations, studying for exams and talking shop with other students - this can all be done at the computer, with no tuition fees. Since 2002, the Hasso-Plattner-Institut has offered multimedia courses on informatics topics on its open HPI platform. The target groups range from experts who want to become familiar with current research, to laypeople who want to understand what is behind the technology that is changing the world. Motivation is provided by playful elements and links between those learning, who are 8 to 80 years old.
