Researchers want to know the effects digitisation is having on scientific work
Digitisation is changing science. The Opening Science project researches how online technologies can be used to make science more networked, faster, more efficient, and more open. In this context, staff of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society is investigating possibilities of motivating laypeople to work on scientific projects. For example, thanks to the Internet zoology can make use of the observations of thousands of volunteers to collect data on migratory birds.
