Cloud storage services are becoming more and more popular. They are flexible and comfortable, often free, and accessible anywhere via the Internet. But how are one’s data stored on the servers of providers? Here PanBox comes into play. The software encrypts the data locally before it leaves the computer. Only after it is downloaded from the Cloud is it decoded again. Third parties can use the encoded files, provided they are invited by the owner, who keeps control of his or her data at all times. Data protection is not a supplementary functionality, but part of the solution from the very beginning. Panbox is available as an OpenSource version.
