Wind turbines, cranes and other construction equipment – many of their components are large and heavy. In the past, if they had to be machined or repaired, the objects had to be transported, at great expense, to huge machine tools at factories. The start-up Picum MT had an idea to make this work easier, cheaper and faster. A small, handy machine holds onto the object firmly, moves on it like an ant and mills, drills, rivets or grinds. The software inside allows it to machine components intelligently and autonomously. The system combines the accuracy of a traditional machine tool with the flexibility of a robot and the mobility of a drill.
