Promotion of broadband systems in Baden-Württemberg
Faster surfing in every village
A private foundation helps citizens and municipalities in the country set up broadband connections
In many rural regions, the Internet is like a bumpy farm track: you can’t move very quickly there. The private Franz & Regine Frauenhoffer Foundation from Ostrach in Upper Swabia wants to change things and hook up the villages of Baden-Württemberg to the data highway as quickly as possible. With know-how, contacts, and donations it is shouldering the investment costs together with citizens’ initiatives and administrative authorities and is responsible for the risks of the project as a contractual partner of the respective telecommunications companies. The foundation wants fast Internet for all so that living in the country is no longer a disadvantage in this respect.
