Research project C³ – Carbon Concrete Composite
Rust is a thing of the past
A research project intends to make Germany the market leader in the building material carbon concrete
Steel is a thing of the past - at least if the initiators C3 – Carbon Concrete Composite get their way. The research project is investigating the possibility of using carbon as an alternative to steel in concrete buildings. The advantages of the material: it has a longer life, conserves resources, and is easy to mould despites its great strength. And since carbon concrete has excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, it can even make buildings intelligent: for example, by installing sensors directly in the wall. So It's no surprise that more than 130 partners have teamed up in an effort to establish the construction material and make Germany the global market leader.
