Research project iNAPO – nanosensors for medical and environmental technologies
Cribbed from nature
Novel measuring instruments on the nanoscale will help identify diseases and environmental toxins in the future
Miniature measuring devices that show blood pressure or temperature enable people to check their health on a daily basis or for them to be checked from a remote location. The technology is possible thanks to sensors on the nanoscale that provide the desired values. In the research project iNAPO, scientists from various disciplines are developing a new generation of especially sensitive and thus higher-performance nanosensors modelled on nature. The sensors are extremely tiny. In the future they will help people diagnose diseases and track down toxic substances in foods cost-effectively and reliably.
