Flöthe is one of many municipalities in Lower Saxony where there is a dearth of medical care. In the Wolfenbüttel district, a new concept is providing help. Since August 2013, a “rolling doctor’s office” has visited patients in the small community of Wolfenbüttel and in other towns in the region. A converted van with a lounge chair, laptop, and laboratory equipment serves as a treatment room. The concept could serve as a model for dealing with the shortage of doctors in the country. The project is being scientifically monitored and evaluated by the Technical University Braunschweig.
