Safety System for Man-Machine Operations
My colleague, the robot
Introducing a system that analyses workers’ cognitive states in order to prevent industrial accidents
Work accidents can have serious consequences not only for those affected but also for companies. But accidents are inevitable in hectic everyday working life, especially in work that transpires in cooperation with industrial robots — for example, due to sequences of complex motion or unexpected robot starts. The innovative KAMeri occupational-safety concept enhances precautionary measures: The system uses brain–computer interfaces in headsets to calculate stress levels or workers’ ability to concentrate, among other measures. Depending on the results, control of the robots is adapted automatically. In this way, KAMeri improves the interaction between man and machine — and thereby the safety of industrial processes.
