Sensor Lab for Construction Industry 4.0
Monitoring bridges with sensors
In a sensor laboratory, students and researchers develop digital solutions for the construction industry
While digital transformation is revolutionizing the construction industry, not all developments in Industry 4.0 or the Internet of Things (IoT) have yet reached that sector’s varied practices. This is why the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar founded a laboratory for construction-sensors and data analysis. Together with European cooperation partners, students and researchers in interdisciplinary teams are developing and testing new concepts in measurement technology, modelling and data evaluation—such as sensor-based building analyses or digital bridge-monitoring. By integrating the sensor laboratory into courses and student work, the project also contributes to preparing young scientists for the digitalized professional world.
