Short-term homestay for kids with disabilities
Get caught up on sleep and recharge those batteries
Families with severely disabled children find respite in a former manor house
Take a deep breath and relax…. Many parents long to do just that. But if they are providing home care for children with severe disabilities 24/7, their yearning often goes unfulfilled. The Hände für Kinder (Hands for Children) association offers families a short-term break in the Neuer Kupferhof, a kind of hotel where parents and their disabled children can spend holidays and relax together. Parents and children are deliberately given separate accommodations, so that the former can catch up on lost sleep and recharge their batteries, while the latter are well cared for. This lightens the burden for families with disabled children and allows them to participate more in society.
