Silk Road Cultural Belt – intercultural music initiative
The sound of silk
With an international music project an orchestra fosters exchange between classical music fans around the world
Seasonings, gold, jade, porcelain, and above all silk were transported by dealers on the Silk Road, the most famous trade route in the Middle Ages. The Silk Road Symphony Orchestra has sent out music since 2016 and wants to promote exchange between people across the globe through culture without borders. Music lovers from countries along the former Silk Road upload their classical music highlights on an interactive internet platform - whether videos, MP3 or pieces from their personal play list. The sundry sources of inspiration are incorporated in the work of the orchestra, in which around 60 soloists from more than 20 nations bring the sounds of music to the Silk Road together.
