Sinn² – the barrier-free, two-sense passenger information
An app enables visually impaired people to use public transport independently by providing real-time passenger information.
Blind and visually impaired people face special challenges when they want to use public transport. If there is no barrier-free infrastructure, they must have a third party help them out. Ensuring that people with disabilities can participate equally in social life and enabling them to lead a self-determined existence is an important social goal.
„Sinn² – The barrier-free, two-sense passenger information“ was created as the basis for distributing nationwide, barrier-free, real-time passenger information. The app was developed with the so-called two-sense principle, for sight and touch. Such an app is particularly important in rural areas, where public transport services are becoming increasingly flexible (e.g. with on-call buses), and, owing to an ageing population, getting around via sight alone may no longer be an option.
