Smart Rural Areas – intelligent technologies for the future in the country
Networks of the future in rural areas
Scientists and companies are researching intelligent technologies that make rural life easier
Cars automatically deliver packages or drive senior citizens to the doctor. Could this become reality in rural regions in the not-so-distant future? In a research project called “Smart Rural Areas” launched by the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering, scientists and companies are developing innovative concepts to enhance life in the country. Interlinking intelligent software and systems – smart ecosystems – forms the basis for mastering challenges in the fields of mobility, logistics, medicine, energy, living, work, education, and agriculture. West Palatinate is the model region for the initiative, which also strengthens local business.
