Solarauto Sion – Series-produced electric car with solar modules

Two Sion solar cars by Sono Motors. One cars shares energy with the other one via the biSono System.
Sono Motors GmbH

The Sion electric car has a real range of 250 kilometres. Thanks to solar modules integrated into its bodywork, it can generate up to 30 kilometres of range every day using pure solar energy – resource-saving and free of charge.

Sono is developing and building the Sion, a car priced at €16,000 (excl. battery). The solar cells embedded in its body allow for simple charging of the vehicle battery with pure solar energy during the day. This allows the Sion to generate a range of up to 30 kilometres per day – without incurring any costs. The vehicle has a real range of 250 kilometres, additionally filters the air with natural moss (breSono) and can reduce the financial burden on its owners with ride-, car- and power-sharing. For instance, the Sion can charge and operate other electric cars and electrical devices via the biSono system (bidirectional charging). With a household consumption of 5 kWh per day and a battery size of 35 kWh, the energy of the Sion is sufficient to supply a household with electricity for seven days, turning it into a miniature power station on wheels.
