Sustainability guides for school, family, and youth
On the road to climate protection
Young people from socially disadvantaged families advocate the environment as sustainability guides
Why is it important to save electricity? What does resource protection mean? How can people cook in a climate-friendly way? So-called sustainability guides deal with such questions. The young environmentalists come from socially disadvantaged families in which energy conservation and sustainable food only rarely play a part. After finishing their training at the International Centre for Encounter St. Marienthal (IBZ), they put their family or school to the environmental test. By making suggestions for improvement, for example by showing how more energy efficiency can be achieved, the IBZ experts help implement projects. The initiative garners the young people recognition and boosts their confidence - and transports green thinking to educationally deprived classes.
