"Talking Places" virtual sightseeing walk

Sightseeing with wonder glasses

A new technology turns a city sightseeing walk into a virtual feast for the eyes

In the future, visitors to Kaiserslautern will be able to obtain information about the city’s buildings and squares not only from guidebooks or smartphones, but also via data glasses. The spectacles provide appropriate information in sound and images on all of the important sights. The city guide, which is based on eye-tracking technology, was invented by the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence. The research centre is investigating the extent to which we can interact with a computer solely by means of look control. The system offers people completely new access to their urban environment.
